Did you know that Global Women’s Project works with a special contact at each of our partner projects? We rely on these individuals for updates, pictures, and stories from our current projects in India, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, and Indiana, USA. Over the past few weeks I have had the pleasure of emailing back and forth with Sister Stella, our contact for SITEAW, which provides educational support for girls in Uganda, as well as job skills training and a loan program for women in the community. This week she shared the good news that 4 of their girls will be graduating from high school this year, there are currently 33 women participating in groups to learn sewing and handcrafts, and they have been able to increase the amount of their interest free loans from $30 to $50. We invite you to join us in celebrating with Sister Stella and the women of SITEAW!
In just one month, members of the Global Women’s Project steering committee will be gathering in South Bend, Indiana for our annual fall meeting October 14-16th, 2016. Some areas of focus for our meeting that weekend include preparing our annual newsletter to share updates on our partner projects, brainstorming new members for our team (if you are passionate about the work of GWP and feel called to give your time and talents, please contact us!), and discerning how best to utilize the wonderful increased generosity we have seen from donors in the past few years. If you’re in the area, we would love to see you on Sunday morning, where we’ll be worshipping with the Crest Manor Church of the Brethren.
