While there is still snow on the ground here in Pennsylvania, Lent really does begin tomorrow.
To be honest, growing up we didn’t really do anything to observe Lent in my household. It wasn’t until college that I started experimenting with different Lenten rituals such as cutting out processed sugars, following a daily reading, or setting aside a time for reflection each day. For me, Lent has become a time to refocus on the values that I hold central to my understanding of Christianity: attempting to live like Jesus, seeking to embody my faith in action, and working for a more just world.
For a number of years now Global Women’s Project has released our Lenten Calendar as one opportunity to live intentionally during the Lenten season by educating ourselves about the experiences of women around the world and making a monetary commitment towards equity. Feel free to follow along this year with out daily emails and facebook posts or by requesting a physically copy of the calendar. Respond to this email if you would like a calendar mailed or to be added to the email list.
What is your intention this Lenten season?
