Dear friends of GWP,
I hope you’re staying warm this weekend, especially our friends venturing out to protest and bear witness to the atrocities happening across our country at the hands of ICE and the Trump administration. I am at a loss for words.
I hope you will join me in praying for the family, friends, and community of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez, Keith Porter Jr, Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Liam Ramos & his father, Anthony Jones, Romien Jally, Cipriano Chavez Alvarez, Fernando Sabonger-Garcia, Jose Freddy Guillen Vega, Kuan Hui Lee, James Tomas Hill, Luis Sanchez-Perez, Onoval Perez-Montufa, and all others who have been killed, hurt, separated from their families, and frightened by our government.
We will continue to gather together, support our neighbors, and work towards a more just future for ourselves, our partner projects, and our global sisters and brothers. We invite you to join us this Lenten Season for the annual GWP Lenten Devotional Calendar. While those who have a physical copy of the calendar from previous years can follow along at home, the Steering Committee has updated the daily devotionals for the email calendar. Each day of Lent, a new devotional examining scripture, statistics or more information about a partner project will be mailed to your inbox. Sign up for the Lenten Email Calendar now
CHIAPAS PARTNER PROJECT UPDATE
It’s my pleasure to report that Elena, director of the women’s health initiative in Chiapas, Mexico, has reported that her health has improved since receiving breast cancer diagnosis last year. She was excited to let the Steering Committee know that the health initiative has expanded its network and is partnering with other groups around Mexico to share knowledge and make meaningful personal connections across regions. We’ll be sharing a more comprehensive update in the upcoming GWP Global Links print newsletter (contact us to join our mailing list)!
In peace,
Maddie Dulabaum, for GWP Steering Committee
