GWP friends:
If you’re like me right now, you dread a lot of the news each day. As much as I believe the wisdom that no voice for justice is ever lost, the threats abound.
A teacher friend tells me that children of immigrant families in the school my kids went to are terrified. Critical services are being eroded in multiple arenas. My close neighbors in the DC area are losing public service jobs to which they’ve deeply committed themselves. And I know that too many of our global neighbors-women and children at the forefront- will be feeling the reductions in humanitarian support from our government. It makes me very grateful to have connections like those through GWP that endure. The steps we share, small though they may be, matter. They’re signs of hope and faith, chances to act.
Our GWP Lenten calendar offers daily short emails that educate, inspire, and stretch those who receive them. Last year, opening it faithfully (most of the time!) helped me to stay aware and grounded. Whether you’ve used a version in the past or not, we invite you to sign up for the daily messages: https://globalwomensproject.org/worship-and-education-resources/lenten-calendar/). It’s available in a print version if you prefer, which you can request by contacting cobgwp@gmail.com. Ask for one or several copies, and join us on a meaningful Lenten journey!
May your experience in this season of reflection — and lament — also be filled with God’s presence and power.
