Friends of Global Women’s Project,

Visit the GWP Booth at Annual Conference

For those of you attending the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference June 29 – July 3 in Greensboro, North Carolina, please visit the Global Women’s Project booth! We’d be delighted to see you there!

Recent Inspiration
I recently watched the PBS film, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women WorldwideI had read the book, Half the Sky, a few years ago. I recommend both the movie and the book. The stories of women around the world are not always easy to watch or read about, but I think it’s important for us to be informed. By being informed, we can also be inspired to act.

Call to Action

What is your call to action? Are you taxing yourself on a luxury of yours and donating the money to Global Women’s Project or another organization? Are you volunteering your time? Sometimes it’s easy to feel ashamed that we’re not doing more. If that feeling moves you to act, great! If it causes you to feel bad about yourself, I don’t think that’s good at all. We can’t do everything we want to do, but we can do something. Maybe you’re feeling pinched financially. In that case, don’t underestimate the value of your time. Right now, for instance, I’m volunteering my time to be on the Global Women’s Project Steering Committee. I feel so good about supporting an organization – and issues – that I have passion for. And if you don’t have the feeling of abundant time, don’t underestimate the value of your money. The value of a few dollars can go far. (We welcome your donations anytime to: Global Women’s Project, c/o Church of the Brethren General Office, 1451 Dundee Ave, Elgin, IL 60120. Write checks to GWP.)

Where are your passions? What is your call to action?

I hope you enjoy this summer and find time to nurture your passions, support great causes, and relax some, too!

Peace,
Global Women’s Project Steering Committee
